Chairs are available with mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic suspension systems to reduce shock and vibration, protecting operators during long watches and in heavy sea states. Typical adjustment features include 360° swivel with locking, fore–aft slide rails, height and tilt adjustment, reclining backrests, adjustable headrests and armrests, and folding/adjustable footrests—allowing each operator to maintain correct posture, sight lines, and reach to controls.
 

Configurations range from fixed-base and rail-mounted pilot chairs to fully integrated bridge seats with consoles, joysticks, and armrest-mounted controls.
